What are the eligibility requirements for the CDCP? ▼

You must meet all 4 requirements: (1) No access to private dental insurance, (2) Filed tax return in Canada, (3) Adjusted family net income under $90,000, and (4) Canadian resident for tax purposes.

How is adjusted family net income calculated? ▼

Family Net Income (Line 23600) minus UCCB and RDSP income received (Lines 11700, 12500) plus UCCB and RDSP amounts repaid (Lines 21300, 23200).

What are the income tiers for CDCP coverage? ▼

Under $70,000: 100% coverage (0% copay). $70,000-$79,999: 60% coverage (40% copay). $80,000-$89,999: 40% coverage (60% copay). $90,000+: Not eligible.

Can I qualify if I have dental coverage through a provincial program? ▼

Yes. If you have dental coverage through a provincial, territorial, or federal government social program, you may still qualify. Benefits will be coordinated between plans.

What if I opted out of my workplace dental insurance? ▼

You are generally still considered to have access to dental insurance and would NOT be eligible, unless you are retired and opted out before December 11, 2023, and cannot opt back in.

How do I check if I have access to dental insurance using my tax slip? ▼

Check Box 45 on your T4 or Box 015 on your T4A. Code 1 means no access; codes 2-5 mean you have access. Also check your spouse's slips.

Do I need to renew my CDCP coverage? ▼

Yes, you must renew annually and re-attest that you still meet all eligibility requirements. Renewal for 2026-27 ran from April 15 to June 1, 2026.

What happens if I provide false information on my application? ▼

You and your family will be removed from the plan, and you may have to reimburse the Government of Canada for services paid while you were ineligible.

Does 100% coverage mean all my dental costs are free? ▼

No. 100% coverage means the CDCP pays 100% of its established fees. If your dentist charges above the CDCP fee guide, you may owe a balance.
