Tool to estimate Canada EV Incentive Before Buying an Electric Vehicle
Purchasing an electric vehicle in Canada is a major investment, and understanding the available government incentives can help you make a smarter financial decision. Canada Federal government provides incentives to promote the purchase of eligible electric vehicles. Our Canada EVAP Incentive Calculator helps individuals and businesses estimate the federal EV incentive payments they may receive through Canada's Electric Vehicle Affordability Program.
Whether you're buying or leasing a battery electric vehicle (BEV), Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCEV), this calculator provides an instant estimate based on your vehicle, transaction details, and purchase date. The EVAP is a federal point-of-sale incentive program introduced in the replacement of iZEV program. Incentives are available through dealerships and authorized sellers to eligible vehicle purchasers.
The Canada EVAP incentive program is scheduled to operate from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031, while eligible vehicle purchases and leases completed on or after 16th February 2026 may be eligible for available incentives.
Eligible incentives are applied directly at participating dealerships when the vehicle is purchased or leased. Incentive amounts are designed to gradually decrease throughout the life of the program. Backed by a $2.3 billion federal investment over five years, the initiative aims to support the adoption of more than 840,000 new zero-emission vehicles across Canada.
Incentives are designed to encourage early adoption and decrease annually over the program's lifespan .
| Vehicle Type | 2026 | 2027 | 2028 | 2029 | 2030 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery Electric (BEV) & Fuel Cell (FCEV) | $5,000 | $4,000 | $3,000 | $3,000 | $2,000 |
| Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) | $2,500 | $2,000 | $1,500 | $1,500 | $1,000 |
For lease transactions of 12 months or longer, the incentive is prorated based on lease length. The formula is :
(Full incentive amount ÷ 48) × (number of months of the lease)
| Full Incentive | 48 Month Lease | 36 Month Lease | 24 Month Lease | 12 Month Lease |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 (BEV) | $5,000 | $3,750 | $2,500 | $1,250 |
| $4,000 (BEV 2027) | $4,000 | $3,000 | $2,000 | $1,000 |
| $3,000 (BEV 2028-29) | $3,000 | $2,250 | $1,500 | $750 |
| $2,500 (PHEV 2026) | $2,500 | $1,875 | $1,250 | $625 |
Within seconds, you'll receive an estimated federal incentive amount and understand whether your purchase appears to meet the current EVAP requirements.
Start by selecting the vehicle's model year, make, model, and trim from the dropdown menus. If you cannot find your vehicle, indicate whether it is Canadian-made.
Choose whether you are purchasing or leasing the vehicle. Then enter the final transaction value before any applicable incentives.
If your purchase includes items that are not eligible for the EVAP incentive, such as extended warranties, insurance products, winter tires, or a Level 2 charger, select the applicable options so they can be excluded from the rebate calculation.
Choose your buyer type, enter the purchase or lease date, and specify how many EVAP incentives you have previously received.
Click the Calculate EV Incentive button. The rebate calculator will estimate your eligible EV rebate based on your vehicle, transaction value, buyer details, and the current EVAP incentive rules, including any applicable incentive decline schedule.

Yes. This zero emission vehicle incentive tool follows official Transport Canada rules for the EVAP program. That means the $5,000 cap for standard EVs, the prorated lease formula (full incentive ÷ 48 × lease months), the Canadian made exemption (no $50,000 cap), and the declining incentive schedule. It won't approve your claim, but it tells you what you should get before you sign anything.
