Double Disabled Rate 2026

The double disabled rate applies when both partners are under disability or both receive CPP-D, etc. The maximum rate is $2,416 per month for the couple's portion of budgetary needs.

Additional for both disabled partners: An extra $90/month shelter allowance can be recieved by double disabled. Actual shelter costs are below the maximum for two people.

Special Rules for Sponsored Immigrants

If an applicant/recipient is living with a defaulting sponsor and the sponsorship agreement is still in effect, shelter costs can only be paid in specific circumstances:

  • The sponsor is in receipt of Ontario Works, ODSP, GIS, or GAINS
  • There is a breakdown in the sponsorship relationship due to family violence
  • The sponsored immigrant has a legal obligation to pay shelter costs
  • The sponsored immigrant will not be allowed to remain in the residence unless they pay shelter costs

When Your ODSP Payment Needs Recalculation

Income support should be recalculated when a member of the benefit unit:

Dependent Children in Shared Custody

Where an applicant shares custody of a child on an approximately equal basis, they may receive income support for the child only if they are eligible to receive the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) for that child. In shared custody situations:

  • 50% of the sole-support supplement is provided
  • Full shelter amount for the child
  • Full drug and dental coverage for the child

Dependent Adults

Adults over 18 living at home and determined to be financially dependent are considered members of the benefit unit. Dependent adults are subject to Ontario Works participation requirements. Failure to comply may result in a reduction to income support.
