The maximum ODSP amount provided for basic needs is calculated by the No. of persons in the benefit unit, the age of dependants, and living location. The table below shows the monthly basic needs amounts:

The shelter allowance helps with housing costs including rent, mortgage payments, property taxes, utilities, and condominium fees. The maximum shelter allowance varies by family size:

The double disabled rate applies when both partners are under disability or both receive CPP-D, etc. The maximum rate is $2,416 per month for the couple's portion of budgetary needs.
Additional for both disabled partners: An extra $90/month shelter allowance can be recieved by double disabled. Actual shelter costs are below the maximum for two people.

If an applicant/recipient is living with a defaulting sponsor and the sponsorship agreement is still in effect, shelter costs can only be paid in specific circumstances:

Where an applicant shares custody of a child on an approximately equal basis, they may receive income support for the child only if they are eligible to receive the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) for that child. In shared custody situations:
