FAQ
How does CPP-D affect my ODSP?
CPP-D is deducted dollar-for-dollar from your ODSP payment. There is no exemption threshold — every dollar of CPP-D reduces your ODSP by one dollar.
Will I lose my ODSP if I get CPP-D?
If your CPP-D benefit equals or exceeds your ODSP maximum, your ODSP is revoked entirely. Even a $5 difference can result in revocation.
Do I get more money if I receive CPP-D?
For most recipients, total income remains the same because CPP-D is fully clawed back from ODSP. However, if you lose ODSP entirely, you lose associated health and dental benefits.
What happens to my ODSP if CPP-D ends?
If you were eligible for ODSP because you received CPP-D, income support may continue for up to three months after CPP-D ends to allow time to reapply or transition.
Is CPP-D taxable?
Yes, CPP-D is taxable income and must be reported on your tax return.
Does ODSP require me to apply for CPP-D?
Yes. ODSP recipients must pursue all available income resources, including CPP-D. Refusal to apply can put your ODSP eligibility in jeopardy.
What is the 2026 ODSP maximum for a single person?
As of July 2026, the maximum ODSP income support for a single person on market rent is $1,436 per month.
Is the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) also deducted from ODSP?
No. Unlike CPP-D, the federal Canada Disability Benefit is exempt as income and does not affect your ODSP eligibility or payment amount.
