FAQ
How much can I earn on ODSP without penalty?
As a person with a disability, you can earn up to $1,000 per month in net earnings without any reduction to your ODSP income support. A non-disabled spouse or adult child can earn up to $200 per month.
What is the clawback rate for ODSP?
For every dollar you earn above $1,000, ODSP deducts 75 cents. You keep 25 cents per dollar above the exemption. For non-disabled adults, the clawback rate is 50%.
What is the Work-Related Benefit?
If you earn at least $100 in a month from employment or self-employment, you receive an additional $100 Work-Related Benefit on top of your ODSP payment. Students do not qualify for this benefit.
How does self-employment income work with ODSP?
ODSP looks at your net business profit after allowable expenses. You can claim a minimum $100 Standard Expense Deduction or actual expenses (whichever is greater). Expenses like wages, gifts, business losses, depreciation, and conferences are not allowed.
What deductions can reduce my clawback?
Child care costs (licensed: full cost; unlicensed: up to $600/month per child) and disability-related work costs (up to $1,000/month) can be deducted before calculating clawback.
Do students have to report earnings?
Full-time high school or post-secondary students have all earnings fully exempt. They do not qualify for the Work-Related Benefit. The exemption applies to the pre-study period (4 months before) and while attending school.
What is the current ODSP rate for a single person?
As of July 2026, the maximum ODSP income support for a single person on market rent is $1,436 per month.
How do I report my earnings?
You can report earnings through MyBenefits, the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, or by completing the Employment/Training Income Report form. Reports are due by the 7th day of the following month.
What happens if I miss a reporting deadline?
Your payments and benefits may stop temporarily if you miss a reporting deadline. Once you send your completed report, payments can resume if you still qualify.
What is the Employment Transition Benefit?
If you leave ODSP for paid work, you may be eligible for a $500 Employment Transition Benefit. This is available once in a 12-month period.
